Jana Baxter is the Instructional Media Services Coordinator for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit in Homestead, Pennsylvania. Jana has been an adjunct professor for Robert Morris University where she has taught Technology Literacy for the Elementary and Secondary Educator in the School of Education, in addition to Basic Internet and Web Page Design in the Graduate School of Education.
She currently serves of the Board of Directors for the Cranberry Township Library and previously served on the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology (PAECT) board for 10 years as the Southwest Regional Director. Jana also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC) in charge of programming.
Jana was a pioneer in the early days of videoconferencing, including creating and maintaining a database of videoconferencing resources available to teachers across the state. In addition, she was a member of the Principals Technology Leadership Academy team and developed materials and resources that were used across the Commonwealth during the initiative. Also, Jana was a leader in the original Keystone Technology Integrator Program providing professional development to cohorts of 100 educators from across the state each summer.
Jana’s passion is connecting modern technology with educators and students to improve the teaching and learning process. She was honored with the 2014 PAECT (Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology) Mary C. Renner Achievement Award.
